God As King | Worship After God's Own Heart

This past Sunday, February 16, we continued our study of 2 Samuel, focusing on chapter 22. At 70 years old, David reflects on God’s faithfulness throughout his life by singing a song “to the Lord.” In this song, David praises God for delivering him from all his enemies. Despite David’s past failures to follow God’s ways, he recognizes God’s unconditional love and declares, “He has rewarded me… according to my cleanness in his sight.”

God chose David as king because he was a man after God’s own heart. Similarly, our relationship with God, made possible through the salvation offered in Christ, calls us to worship and gratitude for all He has done. As we mirror God’s faithfulness, we worship Him with hearts full of thankfulness, knowing His love for us is unconditional. True worship flows from our hearts to God’s heart—a deep, sincere expression of devotion simply because He is God.
